Lead Wedding Planner, Master of Ceremonies and DJ for Celebration.
On October 9th, it was my pleasure to be the Lead Wedding Planner as well as the Master of Ceremonies/DJ for Liza and Jen’s celebration that was 17 years in the making.
It was almost transcendent as I watched Legacy Hall in Williamsburg be transformed into a French Bistro by an amazing wedding team. The room looked absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
Something Different at Legacy Hall!
As everyone knows, the foyer of Legacy Hall is very corporate in its appearance, so the first course of action was to soften the entrance. This was enabled by Paisley and Jade, who have given new life to distressed furniture.
Foodies Delight at Legacy Hall!
Since Liza and Jen are complete wine and food lovers…it was very important to them to give guests an extraordinary dining experience. This began with the cocktail hour. And now, full disclosure, having “taste-tested” everything here…and loving every mouthful…my favorite thing in the picture was the Cheese Biscuit Straws (a southern delicacy). My favorite thing (not pictured) was a passed appetizer that included a monster scallop with a fabulous sauce.
The centerpiece of the evening was Creative Cuisines, and all the fabulous food prepared by Chef Steve who is a virtuoso at his craft!
Family Style Meal
As the evening progressed, guests were invited to sit at the long Farmer’s Table and were served four courses including Charcuterie & Cheese, Cream of Mushroom Soup and a light Salad followed by a monster family style meal. Chef Steve’s staff, under Captain Patty’s direction did an outstanding job! The service was impeccable!
Celebration of Love
Elegant Lounge Area at Legacy Hall
The actual ceremony was nestled inside the side room, with a small opening left in the air wall. The draping was opened and closed as necessary to provide separation. Once the ceremony concluded, the side room became an intimate lounge area.
On the day of their 17th anniversary as a couple, Liza and Jen were able to legally wed in the Commonwealth of Virginia. They chose to have a very intimate affair, with only 47 guests, thereby surrounding themselves with their closest friends and family. The setting was very eclectic and elegant, yet still quite simple…which was completely representative of them both. The “naked” cake in the rear of the picture was provided by Charlie Little! (and his cakes are always yummy)
Dancing and Fun at Legacy Hall!
After several heartfelt toasts, the energy in the room changed, and everyone was in the mood to dance! We started the dancing with Jen’s parents dancing to “Lara’s Theme” (a request). Then we continued with Mr. Frank Sinatra and “The Way You Look Tonight”, a standard as well as a classic! However, the favorite music of the evening was DISCO!!!!!
Finally, transportation services were provided by Williamsburg Chauffeur, delivering our newlyweds via Town Car and guests via a contemporary shuttle bus.
